Well I’m not getting home anytime soon. The city is chaos. Traffic is pure insanity. Better to sit up in the office and read facebook than to sit in my car and want to stab people. I am so ready for a vacation. Sadly I won’t be able to take one until this semester is over. Well maybe we can take a mini vacation during spring break. That would be nice. Maybe a long weekend in the Caribbean to do some diving. I want to be on a nice white sandy beach right now so bad.
I am pretty sure that we’re going back too Bali this year. I really want to take my parents there and I really want to dive there again. The diving near Menjangan island was the best I’ve ever done and I’d like to go back with a video camera.
I think this time before I go I will get a rabies booster shot so I don’t have to worry while I’m there. That way I can go back to the monkey forest and if I see the monkey that bit me…he’s going down. I will punch that monkey. Or at least give it a noogy. I kid. Seriously. I wouldn’t punch a monkey. Ooooh, speaking of monkeys I think this time I will really make Dave take us to the place where you can ride an elephant! I really really want to do that.
Ugh, the guy I sent outside to check on traffic reports that it’s still terrible. D.C. your snow plan is crap. Plow your streets better damn you!
Oh well. I leave you all (if I even have any readers) to waste time playing mafia wars. But have this picture I took of a monkey (who did not bite me) for your viewing enjoyment.
Christ this has been a shitty week. We did finally get our power back on this past Tuesday morning, just in time for the next batch of snow. There was a second brief power outage Tuesday evening, which made me cry at work when I herd about it, which makes me feel a bit like an idiot, after all the people in Haiti right now are dealing with much worse than 5 day power outages, but what can you do? I think if the power had stayed off I wouldn’t have reacted that way, but the whole getting my hopes up because we had power, and then being disappointed by the power going out again/wondering if it would take another 5 days to fix made me a bit more emotional than I should have been. Luckily, it was only a brief outage, and we had power again by the time I got home. (Plus a bottle of bourbon and a bottle of vodka courtesy of the liquor store by my job)
Anyone who knows anything about me knows that I love snow. It’s pretty and it gets school canceled and it makes me feel like a kid. But after this weekend I think I am officially done. And we’re about to get another foot any minute now. It was nice that school got canceled on the day of my exam, but I’d much rather have gone to class than deal with having no power in our house from friday night until this morning. I had to stay at a hotel for a night to get a start on the 6 essays I have to write to replace the exam that got canceled, we lost all the fish and coral in our tank, and dammit! It was cold!
There were some bright spots, don’t get me wrong. Kat and Will were incredibly awesome, and provided us with crash space two nights in a row, and one of those nights was the superbowl so I got to watch the Colts lose, which made me very happy. Take that stupid Colts. That’s what you get for leaving Baltimore in the middle of the night! Jerks. And Dave and I really bonded over the experience, which is nice. It’s always good when your relationship gets some proof that as a team you can deal with the annoying times.
They fixed our power this morning, so hopefully snOMG 3.0 will be more tolerable, but I’m nervous about losing it again because they’re calling for high winds which could knock down more damn trees. Grrr.
